The Hong Kong Airport Drama

Hong Kong International Airport is famous as one of the world's largest passenger terminal buildings because of the ever- increasing popularity of tourism in Hong Kong. However Hong Kong airport was recently in news because the Hong Kong airport authorities have denied entry to the creator of the statue dedicated to the victims of the June 4 Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989.

Chen Weiming, the sculptor who created the "Goddess of Democracy" statue, arrived at the Hong Kong Airport at 11 p.m. on June 1. After being identified by immigration officials, he was asked to sign a document stating that he would leave Hong Kong.

As Chen declined to sign the agreement he was immediately deported back to the United States on early June 2. The incident is believed to have exposed the suppressive and deceiving policy of "one country, two systems" adopted by Hong Kong.
